MEMBERSHIP - Membership Types

 

Membership in the association is open to professionals and students in the mental health disciplines, including the professions involved in the development, interpretation, and implementation of policies affecting mental health research and services.  Such professions include but are not limited to counseling, economics, education, epidemiology, ethics, family studies, health promotion, law, justice studies, medicine (e.g., primary care specialists; psychiatry), nursing, pharmacology, political science, prevention science, psychology, public administration, public health, religious studies, social planning, social work and sociology.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
FIRST YEAR FREE FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN TRAINING
First year of membership fees are waived for postdoctoral fellows, residents, and graduate and professional students. Second year dues are only $25. That makes a two year membership in Ortho an extraordinary savings.  Start your student membership today!  Or, considering giving your trainees the gift of a two year Ortho membership for only $25.


REGULAR MEMBERSHIP
DISCOUNTED FOR THE FIRST YEAR
For regular members, dues are discounted from the regular price ($105.00) for the first year of membership: $57.50 for the first year; regular price thereafter.  This means that Ortho potentially gives back in membership benefits more than the cost of your dues! FELLOW / LIFE FELLOW MEMBERSHIP
Members of the Association who have been members in good standing for a least five years but fewer than twenty-five years shall be designated as Fellows.  Members of the Association whow have been members in good standing for at least twenty-five years shall be designated as Life Fellows.  Dues for Fellows/Life Fellows are $115.00 per year.


RETIRED MEMBERSHIP
Members of the Association who have retired receive a discount on annual dues but still receive all of the benefits of a full membership.  Dues for retired members are $25.00 per year.


DUAL MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH AACP
In recognition of common goals, Ortho and the American Association of Community Psychiatrists have created a special, dual membership opportunity. Dual memberships are available to new members at a 20% discount from the full combined price of a membership in both organizations.    If you join now, you pay only $204 for a dual membership in both Ortho (as a regular member) and the AACP, or $212 for a dual membership in Ortho (as a Fellow/Life Fellow) and AACP.  Current AACP members pay only $84 for an Ortho regular membership or $92 for an Ortho Fellow/Life Fellow membership.  Benefits of becoming a dual member include subscriptions to the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry and the Community Mental Health Journal, as well as access to free CE/CME credit opportunities
